Zoe Scofield

2015 Guggenheim Fellow Zoe Scofield is a dance and visual artist based in LA and Seattle. Zoe is the co-artistic director and founder of zoe | juniper, founded in 2005.

Her work has been commissioned and presented by Jacob’s Pillow, New York Live Arts, On the Boards, RedCat, MASS MoCA, The Frye Art Museum, The Joyce Theater, PS 122, Dance Theater Workshop, The Moore Theater, Spoleto Festival, Angers Theatre, Carolina Performing Arts, Bates Dance Festival, Portland Institute for Contemporary Art, Fringe Arts, Pennsylvania Ballet, Baryshnikov Arts Center, Yerba Buena Center, Bard Summerscape Festival, Lyric Opera Chicago and The Met Museum among others. Zoe works in performance, video installation, photography, opera and film.

She has received funding from the Mellon Foundation, Princess Grace Foundation, NEA, National Dance Project Production Grant, National Performance Network and residencies at the MacDowell Colony, CNDC Angers France, Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio and more. Opera credits include, The Mother of Us All, Le Roy Arthus and revival choreographer for The Listeners. She has served as a grant advisor for NEFA and NEA.

Zoe earned an MFA in Dance from the University of the Arts as part of their inaugural class. Teaching credits include Boston Conservatory, California Institute of the Arts, NYU/Tisch, University of WA, Oregon University and University of the Arts. zoe | juniper’s recent project, tell the truth and shame the devil, is a dance and live music collaboration with punk band Xiu Xiu.
