Two choreographic examinations of how time is experienced and how it elapses are combined in the diptych of dance entitled X2. The evening features an extended version of This Land is Your Land—a hit at the 2010 NW New Works Festival—where dance meets the fashion runway in a show of excess, country music and minimal metamorphosis performed by a cast of 13. The companion piece of the evening, The Time, acts as a foil to the tight choreography and simple design of This Land is Your Land, with music by Dutch composer Louis Andriessen, an ambitious design by LILIENTHAL|ZAMORA, and 6 performers.
X2 features a cast of 14 dancers and non-dancers, including: Beth Graczyk, Jody Kuehner, Sruti Desai, Jessica Jobaris, Karn Junkinsmith, Jess Klein, Jennifer Salk, Tova Eisner, Jim Kent, Jurg Koch, Hendri Walujo, Mark Ferrin, TJ Elston and BRACE.
Choreographing professionally since 1984, Mark Haim has been commissioned by the Nederlands Dans Theater, Ballett Frankfurt, the Joffrey Ballet, the Limón Dance Company, the American Dance Festival, the Danspace Project, and other companies and theaters. He has received awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York Foundation for the Arts and more. His last evening-length work, The Goldberg Variations, was seen at OtB in 2006.
