Working (Undecided Title) or W(UT), happens when a group of artists throw a party!

Set inside a dance party that centers resistance and resilience. Markeith Wiley’s lyrical happening will demand that we all be present with one another and let go of traditional performance viewership. By creating an intentional community through each evening’s audience, Working (Undecided Title) or W(UT) will dissolve the gap between thinker and doer, giver and receiver, producer and consumer, audience and artist.

Inspired by Wiley’s artistic practice as a dancer, creator of performance/drag events, and DJ, this new work blurs and blends contemporary performance forms to create a live-event that feels like a theatrical space you haven’t experienced before and a night-club happening that doesn’t yet exist.

Wiley and their collaborators, the NoGoodDoers, invite you into a uniquely raw and energetic experience that will require face to face interaction and vulnerability from all who are present.

See how we are all performers.

A Note About the Performance

You have been invited into a dance party, so please come prepared. Comfortable shoes and clothing are encouraged, and seating accommodations can be made for those who need it.

About the Artist

California native Markeith Wiley is a multi-dimensional art maker, who creates out of necessity. His vast movement vocabulary spans a lifetime of influences. As of late this anti-social extrovert dabbles in dance, sound, theater, a combo of all three or none of the above. Wiley has been an arts educator in Seattle for a while now. When they are not in the studio you can find Markeith at Rainier Dance Center in Rainier Beach or on Capitol Hill as a managing artist director at Studio Current or choreographing with both Seattle Children’s Theatre & 5th Avenue Theatre.

Markeith holds a BFA in Dance from Cornish College of the Arts and has performed or collaborated with too many national/international artists to name. In the evenings Wiley hosts a DJ event at Vermillion Art Gallery & Bar with fellow music enthusiast Alice Gosti and has started a monthly performance party at Studio Current called SC Sessions. Wiley was a member of the 2014 City Arts Future List & also graced the cover of the magazine in 2016.
