Welcome to OtB's first ever #GivingTuesday! Nov 16, 2018

What is #GivingTuesday?

#GivingTuesday (Nov 27, 2018) is a global day of giving on the world wide web, gaining more and more traction and dollars for non-profits across the world over its 7 year existence.

Similar to matched fundraisers like GiveBIG (which ended in May), and Power2Give (which ended in 2016), #GivingTuesday ups the ante with a match from Facebook and PayPal.

This year we're excited to join in the fun and have power donors like you show us what this counter-corporate "holiday" should be about — STICKING IT TO THE MAN WITH ART.

Why do I need to donate at 5am?!

THIS IS NOT A TEST.

THIS IS A RACE.

This year's sponors of #GivingTuesday are none other than Facebook and PayPal. They are ponying up SEVEN. MILLION. DOLLARS. as a match pool for all of #GivingTuesday. Any organization participating in #GivingTuesday can have up to $250,000 matched(!!!).

With over 40,000 organizations participating, that means we have to ACT FAST. The internet flood gates open at 5 AM Pacific Standard Time. So we hope you'll wake up with us and help fund art for all.

With your help, we have the potential to secure $500,000 IN ONE DAY. That's ONE THIRD of our annual operating budget.

Hot turkey.

Why On the Boards? Why now?

Bruce Lee, ready for the challenge

In case you haven't heard, grant funding for art across the country is SHRINKING, but no matter the challenge, we're fighting to keep the art we love strong, healthy and alive for our communities in Seattle and beyond.

THIS IS YOUR MOMENT TO FIGHT FOR THE ART YOU LOVE.

So how do I do #GivingTuesday?

Thankfully, this part is easy!

1. Make sure you "Like" and follow On the Boards on Facebook

2. Make a donation via our Facebook Fundraiser on Tuesday, November 27th (extra points if you do it at 5am before the match runs out!)

3. Enjoy your personalized GIF by your ever-grateful On the Boards fundraising team

4. Bask in the joy of knowing you did your part to protect art for all ❤️
