I just got home from watching Markeith Wiley’s IT’S NOT TOO LATE and my mind is swimming with reactions to the show and to the post-show Q&A—

~

“Wokeness” especially in light of the recent election results is of a fashion at this point—a moral imperative as performance. Ally theatre. A safety-pin. A t-shirt. A tote-bag.  All signals that are meant to convey: I will not laugh at the wrong jokes. I will not say the wrong thing. I will not be that person. I am not a bad person.

Psychic Radio Star or why my left brain had to separate itself from my right brain.

Left brain was like, where did you get that ladder, I know that shadow is a projection, I know this breathing is going to evolve into something that will collapse in on itself in such a beautiful way.

Right brain was left dreaming, watching EZ's (Ezra) body extend from this highest point to his mouth. Making his movements bigger than I've ever seen.

Seattle choreographer/performer Markeith Wiley shows a new side in a piece that is part stand-up comedy, part talk show, part dance, and part theater. Known until now in Seattle as a hyper-kinetic dance performer, here Wiley channels comedian Paul Mooney in a brutally direct comedy/dance work with a rotating cast of local guests and musicians.
