Our apologies for scheduling over the New Year Sep 4, 2007

As a presenting organization, we are sometimes challenged with the difficulty of deciding whether or not to schedule a performance on the same date as a religious or national holiday. This problem arises since we are at the whim of an artist's availability given their demanding travel schedules. Our policy at OtB is to schedule an event on the date of a holiday (for example, in the past two years we have presented programs on Easter, Yom Kippur, and Martin Luther King Day) if, and only if, we are also presenting this program on alternative dates so our subscribers and other members of the community can have an option of attending on another evening. We were confronted with this scenario again this season; Elevator Repair Service will be performing on September 21, 22, and 23. September 22 is Yom Kippur; subscribers who will be observing this Jewish holiday can exchange their tickets for another performance.
This fall OtB did make an inadvertent, and very unfortunate, mistake in scheduling the tailgate party over Rosh Hashanah. Regrettably, we were simply working too quickly when scheduling the date of our Tailgate party on September 12. We chose the date using a calendar with no holiday listings, and rushed to publish the date without cross checking against potential conflicts. We are very sorry about this mistake and we will guarantee to include an additional check when scheduling any events.
We want to extend to the Jewish community a sincere apology for this oversight. Although we are aware of the message that scheduling events over both holidays could send, we did not intend any disrespect or to undervalue the significance of these holidays. We thank you for your understanding and promise to do our best to prevent similar mistakes in the future.
