Badminton Royale Wrap Up Sep 12, 2013

by Monique

Read about it in the Seattle Times!

Who would have predicted the freakish competitive nature of our own arts community over the game of badminton? And who would have ever guessed that arts administrators would actually be so good at the sport? We have LOVED hosting an amazing five-year run of Badminton Royale and creating a rally point for our community. However, after seeing Johhny Mc and the Rep finally take home the prize, we knew it was time to sunset the event and this will be our last year of hosting. Really, how could we top that?!?

Congratulations to our champions: Pottery Northwest (2009, 2010, 2011), UW World Series/Meany Hall (2012), and Seattle Repertory Theatre (2013). We’re thrilled to have had the opportunity to bring so many faces in our little arts community together every year for healthy competition and cheap beer.

Thanks so much to all our loyal players and fans and supporters. We love this community so much more 5-years later!

We hope more things like this crop up in the future, and we are always happy to send a team to a new host venue ( hint..). We can’t wait to see what happens next!

Yours in Badminton,
On the Boards
