Performers of Baron Samedi: Olivier Normand May 6, 2014

Olivier Normand was born in 1983. He lives and works in Paris. Having studied Literature at the prestigious Ecole Normale Supérieure, he studied contemporary dance in the ex.e.r.ce programme under the direction of Mathilde Monnier and Xavier Le Roy at the CCN of Montpellier, and in the Transforme programme at the abbey of Royaumont under the direction of Myriam Gourfink. He has danced with several ranking choreographers: Mathilde Monnier, Christophe Fiat, Dominique Brun, Alain Buffard and Fanny de Chaillé. He also participates in the activities of the Encyclopedia of the Word.

Performers of Baron Samedi: Hlengiwe Lushaba May 4, 2014

Hlengiwe studied Drama Studies at DUT formerly known as Technikon Natal in South Africa. In 2002 she created It’s not over until the Fit Fat Phat lady sings, which was originally created for the EDGE programme under Siwela Sonke Theatre Dance Company. Since 2002 this dance work has been showcased at the CND in France, at the Festival de Liège in Belgium and at the Afrique Noir Festival in Bern Switzerland.

Jerry Manning May 1, 2014

We at OtB are so saddened by the loss of our colleague Jerry Manning.  He was an artists’ artist and a binding force in our community. We will miss his artistic vision and its imprint on the work created here. We will also miss seeing him in our audience, doing what he did so well – supporting Seattle’s artists. It’s a huge loss for us all and we send our love and support to the extended Seattle Rep family.
