AFTER by Andrew Schneider seeking local Seattle-based performers Sep 27, 2018

Be part of the show! We’re looking for volunteer performers who can join the cast of upcoming On The Boards production of AFTER by award-winning New York theater artist Andrew Schneider.

Based in Brooklyn, Schneider writes and performs original performance works, builds interactive electronic art works and installations, and was a member of the Wooster Group company (video/performer) from 2007-2014. HIs critically-acclaimed work investigates our over-dependence on being perpetually connected in an always-on world.

Our production involves casting local performers and ensemble members for an approximately 10 minute long section of our show, known as HYPERCUT.

We are committed to a diversity of people feeling represented and seen in the arts, and therefore are looking for two sets of performers of varying age, race, body type, and gender.

The first set of performers (‘Hypercut’, 9) must be comfortable running in the dark, have strong spatial awareness, be able to hit a mark, and be comfortable with strobing lights. The second set of performers (‘Choir’, 8-10) utilizes less physical exertion, but does require (minimal) running in the dark. If you are a performer whose physical ability does not allow for running in the dark, please get in touch with us as we have other opportunities for you.

Time commitment: Both HYPERCUT Principals and the Choir ensemble will need to be present for all rehearsals, meetings and performances between Sunday, Oct 21 through Saturday, Oct 27 (see schedules below).

Engagement around equity and accessibility is important to us, and we work towards all people feeling heard and represented in our shows. We’re explicit about this strong commitment through communication and accountability and as a result, we work towards a rehearsal room that prioritizes individuals and a value driven process. Participants also have an opportunity to learn and witness our artistic process in depth.

Volunteer performers will receive a ticket to an upcoming performance in the 18/19 Season. If you’re interested or would like to know more, please contact Clare Hatlo, associate producer at On the Boards, at clare@ontheboards.org.
