Seattle-based choreographer, director, and educator Kate Wallich returns to OtB with her company The YC for the premiere of a new full-length work, Dream Dances. Consisting of intertwined and layered movement scenes, this performance inspired by dreams and dreaming combines complex physicality with restrained dynamism. Dream Dances is a meditative study in forming/re-forming and spatial geometry, and like the heightened reality of dreams, brings ‘amplified life’ to the stage. Frequent collaborators Johnny Goss and Andrew J.S. contributed the score.

Kate Wallich received her training from Interlochen Arts Academy and holds a BFA in Dance Magna Cum Laude from Cornish College of the Arts. Named one of Dance Magazine's "25 to Watch" in 2015, her work has been commissioned and presented nationally and internationally by leading dance companies, performance institutions, universities and galleries, including On the Boards, Velocity Dance Center, Seattle Art Museum, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, and Springboard Danse Montreal. Kate has received awards, grants, and support from 4Culture, Artist Trust, The Glenn H. Kawasaki Foundation, The Rauschenberg Residency, MANA Contemporary, and Seattle Magazine’s “Spotlight Artist Award”. Wallich is among Seattle’s top contemporary dance teachers, leading packed classes through her own brand of movement technique. In 2010, Kate created Dance Church, an all abilities movement class that offers a fun, nonexclusive approach to dancing.

Dream Dances is partially funded by the National Endowment for the Arts. It was developed at On the Boards through the Performance Production Program, made possible by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
