Merrill Wright Mainstage Theater

Two of Seattle’s most daring music forces come together in Songs of Wars I Have Seen, an evening showcasing the work of contemporary German iconoclast Heiner Goebbels. One of the leading figures in the contemporary music and theater scene, Goebbels has gained notoriety for his dual emphasis on composing and directing. SCP and Pacific Musicworks bring his virtuosic synthesis of theater, music, art and movement to the OtB Mainstage, pairing it with Monteverdi’s radical operatic fragment Combattimento. Pacific Musicworks recently made their Seattle debut with a wildly popular rendition of The Return of Ulysses staged by William Kentridge at the Moore Theatre in March 2009. These performances are part of SCP’s Icebreaker V: Love and War and the ensemble’s 20th anniversary season.
