With their club kid vernacular, deadpan delivery and non sequitur choreography, the Japanese group chelfitsch have created a buzz among international festival audiences with Five Days in March. This off-beat show tells the story of a young couple and 5 strange days spent in a love hotel – March 19 – 23, 2003 – the week the US invaded Iraq. Writer and director Toshiki Okada’s minimalist directing style and anti-acting aesthetic poignantly depict the international drama of war alongside the mundane existence of everyday individuals. This project was an audience favorite at the 2007 Kunsten Festival (Belgium) and will visit Vancouver, NYC, Minneapolis and Columbus during its first tour of North America.
