Where to start? Well, when it ended I was thinking shit don't let it be over, maybe it's an intermission, oh hell it's over and then we began to clap. I so thoroughly enjoyed this show. The attention to detail in the sound and feeling states was for me a spiritual experience. The 'realness' for lack of a better term of Erin's presence onstage is refreshing. so tired of manipulative machinations and self aggrandizing posturing. She keeps it real. She confesses her insecurities and imperfections without being pathetic, in fact, it strengthens her resolve to carry on, which is the purpose of confession, right? And she's funny. Please Lord help me get my shit together is probably the best prayer ever. I suppose some people might be uncomfortable with her frank discussion of god, sex, holy objects, internet dating and burning hearts but not me. And her mass tattoos and silky nipple enhancing slip of a slip. But the guy sitting next to me didn't know her at all never seen her before laughs at all places I laugh and when it's over says, 'wow she's in the schism! She got rid of all the hyperbole of religion and found her own spirutality. She's so soft and So Strong at the same time. She's so vulnerable and completely inviolate, it was beautiful I loved it!" I thought well, ok then. and the woman downstairs had never been to an OtB performance and she loved it too. So this is great I think because this show is a particularly special kind of OtB inhouse production. Hats off to Lane for letting these artists who work tirelessly throughout the year to present other peoples work give us some of what they got going on. Rich B seriously hit a grand slam with the set and lighting design and Steve Fisk brought a whole new sound dimension. for me it was mezmerizing, dreamy, intense, mysterious and maybe a little bit scary and I wanted to stay there all through the night.
I expected better from OTB. Slow, repetitive, boring, self-indulgent......thanks heavens it was only 60 minutes. Did the artist really work 1 year on that project? It looked like something you could toss together in a couple of weeks.

Anthem for the Single Girl
Erin Jorgensen and Steve Fisk defied the laws of physics, compressing an hour into a period much too short.
