It was a great opportunity
It was a great opportunity for me to watch three Pat Graney pieces, or the Triptych. White other people have to wait 10 years to watch them, I got to watch in one evening. Faith: I felt I was watching a classical painting on the stage when watching Faith. The feminine power in the piece was exhilarating but I was a bit lost on the point of religious resurrection. It was not easy for me to relate it personally. Sleep: Watching Sleep is like watching a film in dance form. The way it presented how women persued their dreams in different stages of their lives was warm and beautiful. It was my favorite piece among the three. Tatto: I was almost all lost when I watched the show before reading any preview/reviews. The individual sections were beautiful but I couldn’t put them together. After knowing Graney’s idea “primitive state is complex, not simple”, it made much more sense to me. I love how Graney was willing to take the risk of putting primitive and complexity as one subject; I think it is what makes a great artist great. Thank you Pat Graney for proposing this show.
